Alone in the Dark

In the night-stained abyss,
Deep in the sunless void,
Eyes blind and sound silenced
And all pleasant tang destroyed.

There remains the one
Locked in cedar and velvet,
Hidden from prying eyes,
Suffering the primordial debt.

Comfortable and content,
Quietly sleeps the monarch.
Like eternal winter for Old Ben,
It remains alone in the dark.

Forgotten and left to rot,
Just another stone on the surface,
Memories faded and love lost,
In the night-stained abyss.
