Natural Darkness

In the darkness produced
By love shared,
Between Pan and the rising sun,
Light hides scared.

Masking the truth,
Hiding under the cloak,
Nature survives in this state,
Shadowed in smoke.

Destructive light shines through,
Screeching metal lifts the ban,
Who dare master monstrous machinations?
This is man.

The destroyer of national darkness
Incorporates the land,
Murdering the rigid guardians,
A weekly errand.

Darkness eradicated,
Solar love exhausted,
The barren base burns,
Retributive fury prompted.

The Hammer

The villain with no soul
Does not care and does not wait,
The author of your destruction,
The designer of your fate.

The pounding of the hammer
Driving the nail, deeper and darker
Into the wound – covered in blood,
The hammer strikes harder and faster.

The nail cries when struck -
Releasing tears of sharp fire,
Sent deeper into the hearth,
A servant of War, his squire.

With every stroke you cringe,
With every blow you scream,
The pain intangible and untreatable,
Wish for the sweet bliss of a dream.

On the edge of the precipice
The assault comes to a halt.
The nail an inch from your heart,
Quickly you attempt to heal and salt.

This peaceful period is just a pause
As the hammer rears back
As far as it can – released –
The steel connects with a loud “crack.”

This final blow pushes over the edge,
Nail penetrates the heart, bleeding and broken,
Damaged beyond all repair,
Not Vulcan can fix the life that was taken.

With heart demolished and destroyed,
You ask why and try to run.
Run away from the suffering and the pain,
Find peace in the barrel of a gun.

Alone in the Dark

In the night-stained abyss,
Deep in the sunless void,
Eyes blind and sound silenced
And all pleasant tang destroyed.

There remains the one
Locked in cedar and velvet,
Hidden from prying eyes,
Suffering the primordial debt.

Comfortable and content,
Quietly sleeps the monarch.
Like eternal winter for Old Ben,
It remains alone in the dark.

Forgotten and left to rot,
Just another stone on the surface,
Memories faded and love lost,
In the night-stained abyss.

Selene

Selene rises from esoteric horizon,
In her pale chariot she dances.
Amongst celestial visions in the dark ocean,
Admire the beauty as she advances.

Eyes brighter than every star,
Soft waterfalls caress the visage,
More beautiful than the moon she escorts,
For her I would launch any voyage.

I pray vision not be stolen
As I attend the princess of the night.
Let Him come another time.
I will not accept the light.

Bridge

From the bank in the East
To the Bank in the West,
The great steel menace commands the loves of passers by,
Taking some to merriment and others to rest.

Imposing archways decorate twofold,
Portals for Dante to travel,
Magnificent black doorways to other worlds,
The indestructible sky castle.

In the West lie the natural,
Covered with an array of fantastic colors
That hide the true savage nature,
Dream of Darwin and nightmare of mothers.

In the East lie the synthetic,
Created for the whims of God's creatures,
A paradise masking corruption,
Taken for granted on all trivial ventures.

Between two doorways i stand
The absence of evil counters the absence of good
I must choose a path - East or West?
If I could tell the difference - I would.

Each has their differences but non I could see,
Physically similar - nothing to miss.
Perhaps I take the third option
And plunge into the abyss...

Dragonfire

Sharpen the sword and polish the armor,
The fight of your life is soon to commence.
It lies beyond the crystal door,
You await the sound of the brass in suspense,
Waiting, accompanied by feelings of horror,
For the impending aggressive sequence.

You have been trained for this fight
Since childhood – an age of innocence,
An age of shelter and respite,
An age of regulation and ordinance,
The age of shining sunlight has reached twilight.
Now, fight with passion and valiance.

Open the door and enter the sinister unknown,
Draw the sword and ready the shield,
Explore the shadowy cavern for the savage cyclone,
You hear a bang – the crystal doorway has been resealed –
The ice freezes the body to bone,
Fight through! Proceed forward and never yield.

Deeper and deeper into the dark cavern,
Out of the silence and tension a piercing roar,
The beast emerges – a colossal wyvern.
The beast stares emitting a coarse stridor,
Its dark body stained with streaks of auburn,
A fiend worthy of the mighty Thor.

The dragon rises on two to display;
Claws sharper than steel to shred and sheer,
The flesh blade lies behind to waylay,
Imposing wings engulf the cavern and strike fear,
The terrifying top produces flame to cover the fray,
Ready your sword and deliver a stance austere.

The two forces meet in the shadowy battleground,
The exchange of blows accompanied by shrieks of pain,
Escape is impossible – you are stormbound –
Your attacks repelled – all efforts are in vain.
Plagued by dragonfire and in it you are drowned
But out of the blackness comes a third, cloaked and arcane.

A hand reaches through the sea of fire,
Revives both body and spirit,
Together, the dragon’s downfall you conspire.
Fight on with valor and never forfeit,
The wyvern suffers from your vengeful ire,
At last the wyvern’s life takes its exit.

Victorious, the two warriors depart
Through a new door made of impenetrable diamond.
The dragon is a foe all must thwart,
A quest for which all are destined,
Destroy this beast with accumulated heart,
Or else be eternally burned and blackened.

Flight of the Whisper

The silence of restraint,
The suppression of thought,
Locked in diamond,
Words the cords sought.

Escape as a whisper -
The soft explosion of a pin,
Assaulting the harsh earth -
Silent lucidity of sin.

Pursued by resumed silence -
Riding atop the airy ‘tops,
The fearsome steed
Awaiting its master – stops

Arriving forth from his abode,
The horseman mounts.
Branded Regret,
All challengers he surmounts.

The chase begins in earnest
The fugitive craftily evades
The enforcer easily counters
A quest through masquerades

Alas! For it is too late
The rebel escapes into the night
Aeolus the enabler
Aided in this fight

The failed horseman returns
Spirit of the whisper too fiery
It settles elsewhere
Immortal in memory.

Fly Away

I close my eyes and fly,
I fly away from everything,
To a land of wondrous sights,
Where children play and angels sing.

Away from Sadness:
He who weighs the eyes.
The killer of spirits,
The bringer of sighs.

Away from Anger:
The most vengeful beast.
With its tusks and horns it attacks,
And destroys even the loveliest feast.

Away from Regret:
The creator of false memories.
Locking up confidence,
And throwing away the keys.

Away from Fear:
The chains that bind
Motivation and courage,
Scarring the flesh, crippling the mind.

Away from Contempt:
The weight that annihilates.
The mightiest heroes and leaders
Must bow and accept their fate.

Suddenly the utopia is swallowed by darkness,
Eyes remain closed, sit in silence.
Must I return to morose reality?
Must paradise be a pretense?

Split in Two

What do you do, oh, what do you do,
What do you do when you’re split in two?

Blissful visions of love, like a bird it flew
High, oh so high, into the sky – so blue.
Cheerless and chronic, you abhor the view:
Amnestic – experienced before but always new.
Eris threw the seed, in your home it grew,
Sensations rose – repressed to sit and stew.
Vibrations amplified and you knew:
There was nothing you could do.

The crimson mountain inevitably blew,
The flames ignite the air on cue,
Fighting fire with fire – an act you rue –
Abandon aggression, put on a new shoe:
Save whomever with your emergency crew.
When all is said and done, the survivors are so few
Vibrations restrained but you knew:
There was nothing you could do.

What do you do, oh, what do you do,
What do you do when you’re split in two?

A Spirit Slighted

(Because it is an obscure reference, James means James the Anabaptist.  Hope that makes more sense.)

I fall and am Lost
Eclipsed by the Dark
I search for the Light
Corporeal Ark

A sea of Shadows
My soul Departed
I drown in Sorrow
My spirit Slighted

Just James knows my Pain
Giving Everything
Thrown over the Edge
Treated as Nothing

Release your Senses
Dismantle the Knife
Return my Spirit
Remedy our Life

Robotics

Continuing with older poems, here is Robotics.  I have one more older poem then i will switch to a schedule of posting a poem every 2-3 days or so, depending on time constraints and whatnot.

Automatons in a line
Configuration of Circuits
All similar in fashion
Ruled by biased conduits
Void of Compassion

Existence designed by another
Agenda determined in advance
Androids of Repetition
Autonomy has no chance
“Unique” is fiction

Brand names printed
On covers of a machine
No liberty for individuality
Independence Obscene
Death of Personality

Walking billboards of business
One falls, a Surrogate fills the spot
No room for horde hysteria
This is the home of the robot
Welcome to America

Oblivion

Didn't have this up on the Blog but i did on my Facebook so i felt i should update what has already been released.  This poem has been used by one of my musical friends as the Intro song for his first CD.  Check out his new band, Defectoplasm, on Facebook if you care to take a look at his stuff.

Fall into Nothingness
The black uncertainty
Darkness' Snare
The jaws of obscurity

Midnight with no moon
A black hole-sun
The relentless Abyss
The dark Oblivion

Static in this state
The Death Swirl flow,
In abundant darkness
The faintest glow

Free the Shackles that bind
Black Eternal Bliss
Light pierces the Night
Rise from Nothingness

The Beast

This is one of my favorite poems i have written because i love the subject of the poem and the deeper meaning i attempt to convey

The beast within, caged in the dark
Bellows for natural freedom
Biting on the binding bars
Refusing to succumb

The beast is the hermit
The darkest cave, its home
Shut away from global eyes
Unable to freely roam

The beast cannot see, cannot hear
Cannot taste, cannot smell
The beast feels the pain and the love
Embedded in the flesh like shrapnel

The beast feels the joy
Feels the love
The beast feels the hurt
Forever requesting the dove

The beast is never the target
Only the victim
The beast is never the cause
Only the outcome

One blade thrust will kill
One bullet is deadly
But neither will cause pain
True pain is given orally

To hurt the beast, no weapon
Use the mouth
To cure the beast, no medicine
Use the truth

The beast is neither flora nor fauna
Nor is the beast mechanical in nature
Yet the beast lives on
Cause it pain, or give it the cure

What is the beast?
To answer is quite fleeting
The beast is inside the living
Slamming the bars, banging and beating.
